My approach to therapy is integrative which means that I draw on a broad range of therapeutic models and psychological theories – including humanistic theories, attachment theory, neuroscience, and trauma informed models, tailoring interventions to meet your own unique needs as an individual.
I work relationally which means I carry the belief that individuals grow, heal and change through relationship. I will set out to build a genuine therapeutic relationship with you anchored in compassionate care and respect.
We will talk through your life today, past experiences and key relationships, becoming curious together about what you learnt growing up to help identify reoccurring patterns and disempowering beliefs which might be causing pain or limiting you.
“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
- C. S. Lewis
Many clients start therapy with an overriding concern, but actually work through not only that issue, but many others in addition, or they find themselves delving deeper into aspects of their personalities, relationship patterns, and behaviour that they did not expect to encounter when beginning therapy.
The process of therapy itself can offer you the opportunity to process difficult and painful feelings, reflect, gain insight and change problematic behaviours and perceptions of self. It can also help you to build resilience by connecting with your inner resources, enabling you to see things differently and move forward with greater confidence and contentment.
"You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust.
You were born with ideals and dreams.
You were born with greatness.
Your were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling, so don't.
You have wings.
Learn to use them, and fly."
I work with adults from different backgrounds, ages and cultures, with a range of presenting challenges. Some examples of experiences that clients bring are:
I offer face-to-face long-term psychotherapy to support deep inner change and short-term counselling to help you cope with specific issues, meeting in-person at the West London Buddhist Centre in the Bayswater area or online via Zoom.
Finding the right person to help when you are struggling can be a challenge, especially if you are not quite sure what you are looking for.
Whether I am the right person to support you on your recovery journey will depend on a range of factors and if you are still not sure after reading my information, then please do get in touch. A short telephone conversation would give you a better idea and even if I am not the right person then I might be able to suggest somebody else.
Sessions are 50 minutes long, meeting at the same time each week.
Session Fees are £80 paid via card machine for in-person sessions or in advance for zoom sessions.
Usually, we would agree to a certain number of therapy sessions in the first instance, and then review as we progress.
